Jerico® Reinvents The 5-Speed Racing Transmission!

The Jerico® has already rendered all other 5-speed drag racing transmissions obsolete! Shortly after its midseason-1996 introduction, Jerico®'s air-shifted 5-speed won its first NHRA national events in Pro Stock and Competition Eliminators. Many more victories and records have followed. In 1997, the Jerico® helped produce the first official 200-mile-per-hour speeds by an NHRA Pro Stocker, plus national records for both elapsed time and speed.

The 80-pound Jerico® is lighter and faster than older 5-speed designs. Reduced rotating weight and drag combine to "free up" horsepower. Pro Stock and Comp customers routinely report lower elapsed times -- particularly in 330 and 660 feet. Our 5-speed is also more responsive and reliable: The Jerico® changes gears approximately 200 rpm quicker than the other popular Pro Stock transmission, while eliminating the random gear overruns that plague our competitor's design.

Virtually any gear ratio is available -- nearly 900 in all! (See gear chart on back side.) Moreover, our modular design lets you swap ratios individually and economically, at the track, without changing the others. (No longer must you send a transmission out, or keep a spare assembly on hand.) The magnesium case is precision-machined into a lower case and cover, which bolt together. These machining tolerances are so strict that covers are not interchangeable from one case to the next. A single quart of synthetic gear oil lubricates the internal assembly.

The Jerico®'s superior strength begins with a double-row front bearing. Our full bulkhead support prevents the gear misalignment and resultant failures of competitive designs, which offer little or no support whatsoever. The mainshaft and cluster are fully supported on ball bearings for optimum rigidity. Needle bearings are used under all gears. This transmission's durability is proven by the leading Pro Stock teams, which repeatedly put 1300-plus horsepower through the Jerico®.

Designed as an engineered system specifically for this transmission, Jerico®'s unique air shifter prevents the gear overruns that affect competitive 5-speeds. Based on the proven dog-ring-and-slider system of our 4-speed, this shifter is directly hooked to the shift rails (not dependent on failure-prone spring mechanisms to hold disengaged gears in neutral). In the rare event of a dog-ring failure, Jerico®'s billet rings are easily and inexpensively replaced (unlike our competitors' welded versions, which must be sent out for rewelding and machining).

A clutch-assisted, manually-shifted version of the Jerico® 5-speed is also available for Stock, Super Stock and other applications requiring a clutch. Jerico® has also developed a vertical-gate shifter assembly (pictured above) specifically for this transmission. Ours is the first manual 5-speed to be designed from the ground-up (not based on the internal components of some production 4-speed). Our engineers even changed the conventional gear order to achieve super-positive shifting and the a compact linkage system. Jerico®'s unique design absolutely prevents accidental engagement of reverse; first and reverse gears are located on the same slider, and the trigger must be pulled up to engage reverse. The manual shifted versions use our very own shifter. Its fully CNC machined in house and tests have shown that it works flawlessly for extended use. Drivers have described it as 'a joy to shift'.
